How I spent my Vacation in Amsterdam

During the vacation I got to see many of the wonders that Amsterdam has to offer. One of the first things I went to see was the Van Gogh Museum. Having just gotten off the plane I was tired, but some of his art is just amazing to see, and I did not want to wait to see them. After going to the museum I headed into the city center to look around, maybe do some shopping and get some food. I had herd many things about Amsterdam and just thought that many of them were blow out of proportion, well I am here to tell you that they are all true. The first thing that hits you is the strong smell of Marijuana, and then you start to see the almost completely naked girls in the windows. As if the prostitutes in the windows were not enough there are …

Montana’s Welcome Creek Wilderness Trail: Madcap Adventures for a Spring Training Hike!

Welcome Creek Wilderness – our spring-time challenge in a strange and wonderful little corner of the Montana back country world, just off the blue ribbon trout stream, Rock Creek. We should have thought it through a little more, but just needed to get out and do a nearby trail. So Evie and I threw our three little furry friends, Tina, Koda, and Lucy (miniature Pomeranians) in the van. We loaded up our 13 year old boy (told him we were heading for the Welcome Creek Wilderness Cafe), and headed east up I-90, 20 miles from Missoula to the Rock Creek exit. You head south at the Rock Creek exit on a paved road, winding your way up stream. It’s a beautiful Montana back-country drive up Rock Creek canyon. The pavement ends around 11 miles up, and a narrow dirt road leads another 3 miles to the parking area for Welcome …

How Has The Cruise Industry Evolved

With cruises a popular choice amongst many holiday makers. It is interesting to see just how the industry has evolved from the days of early transportation to the multimillion pound leisure industry it now is. There have been many milestones during the growth of the industry which has pushed the boundaries of what is possible aboard a ship further and laid foundation for what was to become one of the must relaxing, luxurious holiday options available. The wealth that the industrial revolution brought with it, combined with the good service and shorter transfer times of early trans-Atlantic flights, allowed passengers to arrive and spend more time at their destination. This brought about a steady decline in the demand for ship crossings. However by the time of this ‘air revolution’ cruise companies had already established a cruise model. During the 1980’s cruise companies pioneered the idea of travelling for pleasure not …

Montana Moonlight Madness – where’s the moon on Flathead Lake?

Don’t get me wrong – I’m as cranked for a boat ride on Flathead Lake of Montana as the next guy. There’s just nothing quite as relaxing, mellow and laid back as piling onto a party barge pontoon boat and setting out to cruise the lake, especially if there are enough brews and some good eats to fill out the boat trip agenda. It just didn’t occur to me as we set sail that hot summer afternoon in August, departing the Dayton, Montana bay that we were in for an extended journey in search of the moon – of all things! Oh sure, Captain Ron at the helm, had talked about the moon rising over the lake, how awesome the scene would be, especially since it would make it’s grand appearance rising over the Mission Mountains to the east of the lake. We thought he was kidding since the moon …

Cut a notch at the ends of both sticks, deep enough for the string to fit into. Cut a piece of strong which is long enough to stretch all around the kite frame. Wrap the string around the frame, tying it a couple of times through all 4 notches. Complete by wrapping the string 4 times around the top. Cut off the excess. The frame should be tight without warping the sticks. WITH THE PAPER laid flat, place the frame face down …

Thousands of soldiers were sent to Europe, and Italy, during the Second World War and Florence became a land to conquer and then to defend. Museums, churches, cathedrals, piazzas and other beauties of Florence were no longer the aim of those who came from far away. Sadly, many would not make their way back home and thanks to their lives, Florence, Italy and Europe could find again its previous freedom. For those who want to pay homage to these lives, they can visit the Florence American Cemetery, …

How Do The Reward Travel Credit Cards Work For Your Benefit?

You must have heard at least once about reward travel points and benefits either on a television commercial or, if you are a frequent traveler yourself, from your travel agent or airline personal. How Do Reward Travel Programs Work? Reward travel is like an incentive or, better said, a reward given to you by the airline because you gave them your business and choose their airline to fly to your destination of choice. Most airlines will issue a frequent flyer a card, which looks similar to a credit card and through which you can add points every time you fly with that particular airline or the one they are partners with. Travel points are usually calculated by the amount of miles you covered in one flight and are added to your account accordingly. Another way to gather reward travel points is through your credit card, as sometimes the same incentives …

The workouts range from relatively level stretches to full bore hill climbs, especially in the upper switchbacks criss-crossing the higher faces of the ridge. It’s not a Montana mountain peak but rather a hill among many within the intriguing Sapphire Range, and a Forest Service logging road, across the Clark Fork River from Clinton, MT. The 5 mile training trail begins upon taking a sharp right turn immediately after crossing the Clark Fork at the Swartz Creek bridge. It serves as my private …
